One of the key challenges with any group recording is that participants tend to talk over each other, especially when they become animated. Coupled with any background noise, this can add to the challenge of transcribing. We do understand that it's not possible to cut out every bit of extraneous noise, but we are committed to providing a transcript which is as accurate and as complete as the recording circumstances allowed. We are pleased to offer a discounted transcription service to charities and universities for transcribing all their meetings.

We can transcribe from a wide variety of recordings. Digital recordings undoubtedly produce the clearest quality of recording and its many advantages are dealt with in more detail on our Comparison page. However, we are equipped for audio tape transcription as well as video formats, but clients should be aware of the extra transcription time involved. If your meetings will be broadcast as podcasts or webcasts, we can provide transcription for those too. As with all multiple speaker recordings, the key factor in how clear the final recording will be is the number of external microphones used and the chairing of the group as a whole. Our prices per audio minute below are for digital or mini disc recordings. Our audio tape transcription service is based on an hourly rate and we are also equipped to convert both minidiscs and videos for subsequent transcription.

Please note: these rates apply only to good quality, clearly audible digital or minidisc recordings. The price range is designed to cover issues such as background noise, strong accents and technical terms. ALL RECORDINGS are listened to a second time, Internet research is carried out where necessary, and all transcripts are proofread by the Director, Irene Boston, before being sent to clients. There is no extra charge for this service. Not all transcription companies do this, some don't even proofread, so make sure you ask the right questions before choosing a service.

One thing we would recommend is to give us advance notice of your group meeting transcription requirements. This will allow us to reserve space in our schedule. Most established, professional transcription companies have a long list of regular customers and to suddenly find a block of free space can be difficult. So book your transcription company in advance, the same way you would an event venue.

Our default transcript style is Intelligent Verbatim as that is the most cost effective method of transcription. Please read our definitions of Complete Verbatim, Intelligent Verbatim and Edited Transcript to choose which format is most suitable for your needs. We frequently provide edited transcripts (almost summaries) of some clients' group meetings without distinguishing between different speakers but merely taking the comments, turning them into more coherent summarised sentences or bullet points, and grouping all the different subject areas together.

For digital files, you can Upload them securely via this website to ensure prompt delivery to our transcription team. We can also download your audio sound files directly from your website if you prefer, or you can post CDs. Should your meeting have been recorded on standard audio tapes or minidiscs, we can still provide an audio transcription service. We always convert such recordings into digital format where possible, which cuts out on repeated stops and starts and increased wear on precious original recordings. Subsequently, we can also provide you with that digital re-recording free of charge, provided the originals are clearly audible.

We have a standard script style layout for all group meetings, but we are also happy to work in your house style if you prefer. As with all our transcriptions, we provide a Transcript Code for each document to signify areas which are inaudible or unclear.
